Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved N72, 500 as the minimum wage for civil servants in state.
The payment of the new minimum wage, according to the governor, takes effect from this October.
Ododo announced the new minimum wage in Lokoja on Monday.
The governor, in addition, suspended payment of tax on this newly approved new minimum wage for one year.
Speaking while signing the new minimum wage agreement with leaders of organised labour in the state, the governor
reiterated the importance of implementing the new wage promptly to help civil servants cope with the current economic challenges facing the country.
He enjoined the workers to reciprocate the state government’s gesture by doubling on their efforts at work to move the state forward.
