Mutfwang, Wadak, Plang, commiserate with APC chairman over mother’s death
Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, PDP Chieftain and former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance , Nde Isaac Wadak and Senator representing Plateau Central, Diket Plang have commiserated with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, over the passing of his beloved mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
Mama Lydia died at the age of 83 after a brief illness at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) last Sunday.
In a condolence message signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Governor Mutfwang described the late Mama Lydia as a woman of deep faith, courage, and virtue, whose life was defined by service to God and humanity.
He said she was a matriarch of uncommon strength, love, and sacrifice, and a source of inspiration to all who encountered her.
The Governor noted that Mama Lydia’s earthly journey was marked by compassion, wisdom, tolerance, and kindness—values she imparted to her children and extended family.
He recalled her steadfast devotion to the Christian faith, as she and her late husband laboured faithfully in God’s vineyard, drawing many to the path of righteousness. According to him, attaining the age of 83 was a rare blessing, sustained by God’s divine grace.Mutfwang acknowledged that Mama’s transition has created a painful void, especially at a time when her counsel and guidance would have been most needed.
He, however, urged the immediate and extended family to find comfort in the enduring legacy of her exemplary life and in the unfailing promises of God.
On behalf of his family, the government, and the good people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang extended his deepest condolences to Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, his siblings, and the entire Yilwatda family.
He prayed for God’s comfort, strength, and peace to abide with all who mourn Mama Lydia’s departure.
Wadak, in his condolence message personally signed by him, said he received with sadness the news of the passing of Nana Lydia Yilwatda.
His message reads, “My heartfelt condolences to you,family and we all who grieve this great loss. Her life of love, kindness,generosity and spirituality touched many lives.”This will be forever in our minds. God less her soul to rest in Peace with love and Sympathy.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, Senator Diket Plang, also expressed his condolences to the family on the passing of their matriarch and encouraged them to find solace in the fact that she lived a godly life worthy of emulation.
In his condolence message, Senator Plang described Mama Yilwatda as a virtuous and devout Christian whose positive influence as leader of the Women’s Fellowship extended beyond her immediate community and the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
As a devout Christian, she was a mentor and source of inspiration to many, particularly women. She also assisted her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, in spreading the gospel of Christ and strengthening the growth of COCIN, especially in the North East and Plateau State.
“Mama Yilwatda’s death was not just a shock to the entire Yilwatda family but also to the APC National Chairman in particular, who will undoubtedly miss Mama’s counsel and prayers at this stage of his political career.
The matriarch no doubt lived a fulfilled life, which will continue to serve as a reference point,” he said.
Senator Plang, who represents the Plateau Central Senatorial District, therefore expressed condolences to the family on the passing of their matriarch and encouraged them to find solace in the fact that she lived a godly life worthy of emulation.He prayed that God would grant the APC National Chairman and the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss.
