Plateau LG polls: Thousands of APC supporters defect to PDP

Ahead of the October 9 local government election in Plateau state, thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday detected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors led by the former Executive Secretary of Jos North local government area, Hon Samuel Gyang Chollom, included eight councilors, former Leader of Jos North LGA Legislative Arm, Hon. Yakubu Atsen, Former Majority Leader Hon. Amb. Sylvester Ari, Hon. Grace Vandapuye and many others

They were received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, his deputy, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, State PDP Chairman, Hon Chris Hassan, Elder Raymond Dabo, Fmr minority Leader of the 10th Senate, Senator Simon Mwadkom Fwet, former Reps member, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, chairman PDP Plateau Northern, Davou Mang and host of major stakeholders at a grand programme to present flags to all the PDP Chairmanship candidates in the October 9 local government elections in Plateau North.

Also in attendance to receive Hon. Chollom, were Hon Peter Gyendeng, former member House of Representatives, and Hon Timothy Dantong, former member House of Assembly.

Speaking with journalist on behalf of the defectors, Chollom said he was s happy that he’s back home where his contributions will be much valued and respected.

He specially thanked the governor for his humble disposition and the party PDP for welcoming him back.

He assured the party of total loyalty, support and delivery to ensure that the party wins convincingly in the forthcoming election.

He said, ” It is time for the PDP to establish the fact that Jos North is the home of PDP. So it is important to deliver the chairmanship candidate, Jay Kay Chris and all the councilors in the election properly.”

Chollom called on all his supporters, loyalist, admirers and followers, those who respect grace and character of integrity to all come out and vote the PDP en mass come Wednesday 9th October to deliver all the candidates of the PDP.
